Auto Parts Availability Affected By Age

Auto parts for newer model Mercedes are easier to find than for older cars. The cut off period is about 10 years for most new car Mercedes dealers. If your car model is more than 10 years old it is unlikely that a new car dealer will be stocking OEM replacement parts for your year and model. The dealer may still be able to obtain replacement auto parts from a regional warehouse or distributor but it will likely by a hit and miss proposition. It’s worth a phone call to the parts manager, however.

The big national auto parts stores generally limit their inventory to replacement parts for cars and trucks that are less than 20 years old. There are exceptions for certain makes and models with continuous proven demand but the general rule applies.

If you’re looking for parts for vehicles more than 30 years old you will probably have to go online and find a specialist auto parts dealer, or maybe even an enthusiasts club that shares information about parts availability.
